Early Life & Education
Engr. Prof. Dr. Zahid Hussain Khand was born on 1 January 1968 in the village of Bhangu Behan, Taluka Faiz Gunj, District Khairpur Mirs, Sindh.
He received his early education from Government Primary School Bhangu Behan and completed his secondary education at Government High School Bhangu Behan. Later, he moved to Hyderabad, where he pursued his higher secondary education at Government Muslim Science College, Hyderabad.
In 1986, he secured admission to Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, one of Pakistan’s leading engineering institutions. He completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering in 1991.
Professional Journey
Dr. Khand began his professional career with Siemens Pakistan, becoming the first graduate of his class to join a reputed multinational company.
He later entered academia as a Lecturer at Mehran University Engineering College, Nawabshah, an institution that was subsequently upgraded to Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology (QUEST), Nawabshah.
In August 2001, he joined Sukkur IBA University as an Assistant Professor in Information Technology. During his tenure, he made significant contributions to academic planning, institutional governance, and program development.
He served as Registrar of Sukkur IBA University for more than 12 years and was appointed Professor in the Department of Computer Science in December 2021.
International Academic Exposure
Dr. Khand pursued higher education internationally. He completed his Master’s degree from the University of Huddersfield, United Kingdom, and earned an Ed.D. degree from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom.
His academic background reflects a strong combination of engineering, technology, educational leadership, and institutional management.

Throughout his career, Dr. Khand has contributed significantly to the development of higher education in Pakistan.

Currently serving as the Vice Chancellor of Aror University Sukkur, Dr. Khand has led several forward-looking initiatives aimed at transforming the university into a modern institution of higher education.

Dr. Khand is also the founder of SIBA Testing Services, an organization widely recognized for conducting transparent and merit-based testing for millions of candidates.
At Aror University Sukkur, he established Aror Testing Services (ATS) and founded the Aror Learning Institute (ALI) in collaboration with the LUMS Learning Institute, with the objective of promoting continuous faculty development and professional learning.
Digital Transformation
Digital transformation and institutional efficiency have remained key priorities in Dr. Khand’s leadership.
Under his leadership, Aror University successfully implemented ERP-SAP and the Blackboard Learning Management System, achieving first position among 25 public sector universities in Pakistan.
These initiatives have strengthened administrative efficiency, digital learning, and modern academic management at the university.
Commitment to Sustainability
Dr. Khand has also placed strong emphasis on environmental sustainability and campus development.
Under his leadership, major sustainability initiatives were undertaken, including the plantation of 20,000 trees and the greening of approximately 500,000 square feet of land.
These efforts reflect his commitment to creating a greener, healthier, and more sustainable educational environment.
Services to the Engineering Profession
Dr. Khand has served the engineering profession at national and regional levels.
He is the founding Chair of the IEEE Sukkur Subsection and has been elected twice as a member of the Governing Body of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).
In recognition of his outstanding services to engineering education, he received the PEC Excellence Award in 2022 from the President of Pakistan.
In 2025, he was also honored with the Alumni Excellence Award by Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro.
