Islamabad: MQM-Pakistan leader and Member of the National Assembly Farooq Sattar has emphasized the need for the creation of new provinces in the country, stating that Pakistan cannot achieve development and stability through large provinces alone.
While speaking to the media, Farooq Sattar said that since the creation of Pakistan, the country has remained stuck in status quo and stagnation, but now even decision-making institutions are discussing the formation of new provinces.
He said that referendums should be held in areas where new provinces are needed, while constitutional amendments are possible under Article 239 with a two-thirds majority.
Farooq Sattar added that if any constitutional provision is an obstacle to the creation of new provinces, it should be removed.
He made it clear that Pakistan cannot continue to function under the monopoly of just four provinces, and that serious consideration must be given to the creation of new administrative provinces for the country’s development and stability
