Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directs Petroleum Minister to visit Karachi for immediate negotiations with refineries; orders steps to reduce diesel prices

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued important instructions to Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik to provide relief to the public in petroleum product prices.

Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik met the Prime Minister, during which fuel prices and measures to provide relief to the public were discussed.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister directed the Petroleum Minister to immediately travel to Karachi and hold negotiations with local oil refineries so that all possible steps can be taken to reduce the price of locally produced diesel.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that a large quantity of diesel is produced in local refineries, therefore negotiations with refineries should be completed promptly to pass on the benefit of price reductions to the public.

He instructed that any possible reduction in petroleum product prices, especially diesel, should be immediately passed on to the public.

The Prime Minister made it clear that the government will continue to make every possible effort to provide relief to the public
