Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has promoted Pakistan Army Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Amir Raza to the rank of four-star General. He has also been appointed as the Commander of the National Strategic Command.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated General Amir Raza, HI(M), SBt, on his promotion and new appointment, and extended his best wishes for the successful discharge of his responsibilities.
General Amir Raza was commissioned into the Pakistan Army in 1988. He is a graduate of the Command and Staff College Quetta and the National Defence University Islamabad. He also holds a degree in International Relations from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom.
In January 2025, he was appointed Chief of General Staff (CGS) at the General Headquarters (GHQ). During his distinguished military career, he has also served as Commander IV Corps and Chairman of Heavy Industries Taxila.
The Prime Minister’s Office described General Amir Raza’s promotion and appointment as an important development in Pakistan Army’s senior leadership.
