Mastung: Sessions Judge Abdul Hakeem Kakar and his gunman were killed, while Additional Sessions Judge Tariq Lashari was injured after armed assailants attacked their vehicle at Wali Khan Bypass in Mastung, police said on Thursday.
According to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Mastung Police Station, the judges were traveling from Quetta to Mastung when unidentified gunmen opened fire on their vehicle. The attack claimed the lives of Sessions Judge Abdul Hakeem Kakar and his security guard, while Additional Sessions Judge Tariq Lashari sustained injuries.
The Government of Balochistan strongly condemned the attack and directed law enforcement agencies to take swift and decisive action against those responsible.
Speaking on the incident, Balochistan Chief Minister's spokesperson Shahid Rind said the terrorists had deliberately targeted the judiciary as part of a planned attack.
"The terrorists targeted two judges, and one of them embraced martyrdom," he said.
Rind added that attacks on judges and law enforcement personnel were an unsuccessful attempt to challenge the writ of the state.
He further stated that the terrorists and their facilitators would not be spared under any circumstances, emphasizing that the provincial government would respond with full force and continue its operations until terrorism is completely eradicated from Balochistan.
