Islamabad: On the occasion of Kashmir Exploitation Day, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the people of Kashmir, pledging continued political, diplomatic, and moral support for their right to self-determination.
In their separate messages, both leaders stated that India’s decision on August 5, 2019, to revoke the special constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir was an illegal and unilateral move that violated international law and could not alter the internationally recognized disputed status of the region.
President Asif Ali Zardari said that despite enduring immense hardships and state repression, the Kashmiri people have remained steadfast in their struggle for the right to self-determination.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said India’s actions had intensified repression and further curtailed fundamental freedoms in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He added that the peaceful struggle of the Kashmiri people serves as an inspiration for future generations.
The Prime Minister urged the international community to play an effective and responsible role in ensuring a just and lasting resolution of the Kashmir dispute, reaffirming that Pakistan will continue to raise the voice of the Kashmiri people at every regional and international forum.
