Rawalpindi/Tank: Fifteen security personnel were martyred and 12 militants were killed after militants attacked a police checkpost in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Tank district, according to the military’s media wing.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the militants launched an attack on the police checkpost, but security forces responded swiftly and effectively, foiling their attempt. During the ensuing operation, troops killed 12 fleeing militants through what the military described as a display of exceptional courage and professional skill.
According to the ISPR, after coming under intense pressure, the attackers rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the outer wall of the checkpost. The resulting explosion caused extensive damage to the facility’s infrastructure.
The military said the 15 personnel who lost their lives included 12 soldiers, two police officers, and one Forest Department official.
The ISPR added that a clearance operation is continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining militants.
Reaffirming its commitment to counterterrorism operations, the military said operations against terrorism would continue without interruption and that all forms of externally supported terrorism would be eradicated. It added that the sacrifices of the fallen personnel further strengthen the nation’s resolve to safeguard Pakistan’s security and sovereignty.
