Islamabad: The federal government has filed a review petition against the Supreme Court’s decision to transfer PTI founder Imran Khan to a private hospital.

The petition has been submitted by the Chief Commissioner Islamabad through the Advocate General Islamabad.

The plea states that on August 18, the Supreme Court issued an interim order directing the transfer of the PTI founder to Shifa Hospital; however, the government argues that this order exceeds the court’s jurisdiction and therefore requires review.

It is worth noting that the Supreme Court, in its recent ruling, ordered the transfer of Imran Khan to a private hospital and directed the formation of a medical board for his examination.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf welcomed the court’s decision, stating that the party would respect the judicial order and that no politics would be played on Imran Khan’s health matters.

On the other hand, Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar had earlier indicated that the government would file a review petition against the decision to transfer Imran Khan to a private hospital, in order to ensure his medical examination is conducted at a government hospital.
