Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting to review the implementation of the National Youth Employment Policy, directing authorities to ensure coordinated and effective measures to create new employment opportunities for young people.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said providing dignified employment to the country’s skilled and talented youth is among the government’s top priorities. He also decided that progress on the National Youth Employment Policy would be reviewed every month to ensure effective implementation.

The prime minister said the launch of Pakistan’s first National Youth Employment Policy reflects the government’s sincere efforts, while inter-ministerial coordination and a comprehensive strategy are essential to achieving its objectives.

Shehbaz Sharif directed that special attention be given to equipping young people, particularly women, with skills and ensuring their participation in new employment opportunities. He also emphasized special measures to provide employment opportunities to youth from Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The meeting was briefed that the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) is taking measures to provide young people with international certifications and proficiency in languages that are in demand. Youth are also being trained according to the requirements of the global job market for employment opportunities abroad.

Under government initiatives, the Digital Youth Hub is providing information about employment opportunities available in Pakistan and abroad on a single platform.

The meeting was further informed that Youth Development Cells are being established in educational institutions to provide young people with career counseling and information about employment and skills development opportunities.

The prime minister also directed the launch of an awareness campaign to inform young people about the benefits available to them under the National Youth Employment Policy.

The meeting was attended by relevant federal ministers, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood and other senior officials.
